KITES

"It is better to be hated for who you are than to be loved for something you are not"

With this saying boggling my head I sit down to pen a few of my thoughts for today.

Despite every one warning me against "KITES" i decided to be bold enough to go and see it myself.
AND IT WAS A PLEASANT SURPRISE!!!!!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie which had a concept unique...but yes flaws as well.
The script was nice,Miss Hispaniol was good...our man could have done better and the dancing muffins scene was copied and too obvious!!!
but a coupla things irritated me about the evening...
The movie was due to start at 2140 and we reached at 2145 and were told at the ticket counter that the movie had already started but knowing that i wouldnt be man enough to come again and watch it i decided to nevertheless.
we entered the audi and even the advertisements had not started...now why would the guys at the ticket counter be not knowing that???
we sat down and i was again pleasantly surprised to read across the screen asking us to get up for the national anthem...out of the hundred odd people that were there maybe 25 got up n giving the rest the benefit of the doubt i guessed they were either blind and deaf or just too unwell to get up...but like they say...the show must go on n it did.
We Indians are a funny lot...we are proud to be wearing clothes from abroad and boast of knowing about the world...but where does knowing about our ownself come in??
I dont even think that half the people know our national anthem or the importance of it but was it the same thing in america our brothers would get up without fail n salute the star n stripes and probably even sing it....a strange phenomenon indeed.
having travelled across the globe intensively i always noticed one thing...there was a certain sense of pride about every human i met for their motherland throughout the world..i worked for an italian company and everytime a meal was served...their national anthem was played and a toast raised to it!!
but we guys lack that...do we forget what our fore fathers went through to get us this day where we can stand tall and with a clear throat say that we contribute majorly to this world economy??
Dont we owe that to them and maybe just getting up and standing tall and proud is a good way to pay our tribute to them even if we are deaf and blind or terminally ill???
well enough of this...it was the movie i wanted to talk about.

Anyhow the movie started well and i thought it was progress for the Indian cinema from movies like Munnabhai,de dana dan...sorry mr priyadarshan...no offense meant.
Cinema progresses but the sad part is that the audience does not.
We Indians are a rather stagnated lot not welcoming change or accepting it with open arms...well i have been lenient...we are a regressive lot trying to act westernised....i dont even know where that term comes from...west bengal...but thats on our east???
Americas...but again some parts of it are closer if we travel east...duh!!! I guess i need to hone up my sensibilities!!!!!!!!
Anyway moving back to the movie I liked the concept of a man marrying 11 times to get women a green card and charging them for it and finally truly falling in love with a woman amidst major drama...well its the drama that makes cinema else we could just sit and watch out of our windows each day and see a new movie....and for free!!!!!!!!!
I think the concept of love is majorly understood in our society...you love the person you are with...hows that possible???

Man:Baby...may i kiss you???
Woman:But we are not together,i barely know you!!!
Man:But how else will we??
Woman:Maybe if we start seeing each other!!!!!!
Man:ok...will you date me???
Woman.:Yes...
Man:I love you
Woman:I love you too...now you may kiss me!!!!!!!!

HUH...WHAT WAS THAT???

But thats how our Indian society works!!!!
Love is just an excuse to get outta your partner what you desire from them!!!!!
A rather strange phenomenon indeed!!!!!!
Why cant you love someone without being with them???
Just seeing them happy???
Why does love revolve around material gain n sex???

Our cinema has movies with happy endings where the perfect hero gets the perfect heroine...the end...
how many times has that happened to us???
I would say never...are we even perfect??

LOL
I think the most important thing in a display of love is those small trivial acts that should say I LOVE YOU....n thats what this movie had!!!!
Hrithik sendin her away with his friend and she going and then midway without him even saying anything coming back to him cause she read it in his eyes...for me thats showing you care!!!!
If the same scene had been dialogued differently i guess it would have worked...the movie would have gone done well with the audience!!!

J: go,i cant bear to see you in trouble with me!!!!!
L:no,i cant bear to leave you alone!!!!!!
J:go,you will be safer minus me!!!!!!!
L:no,i can never be safe with out you!!!!!!!!
J:go...please for gods sake go!!!!!!!
L:no.....no......no.......no!!!!!!!!

AND SHE RUNS INTO HIS ARMS FASTER THAN CARL LEWIS!!!!
Yu might as well be running for your country and doing it proud!!!
ha ha

But that would be too much of an effort and lesser initiative!!!!!!!!

For me caring for the person yu love is probably the biggest thing to show them you love them!!
She had a best friend she hasnt spoken to in ages....you hunting for her number...getting it and calling her n just passing the phone to her...thats love!!
she is going to meet her father after one year...you have 500 rs in your pocket to last you the month...you take her out shopping without telling her and buying stuff for 475 rs fr her not caring how you will last through the month...thats love!!!
But i guess LOVE IS SELFISH!!!!
ha ha....
this movie had signs of the real world in a very dramatised and fast moving way...as was PRINCE,ACID FACTORY...n many more....progressive cinema!!!
people break outta your shackles and start welcoming change...because the only thing constant in our life is change and if you dont welcome it you will be left behind!!!!!!
