"all the pathos and irony of leaving ones youth behind is thus implicit in every joyous moment of travel:one knows that the first joy can never be recovered, and the wise traveller learns to never recover successes but tries new places all the time"
had the intelligent not tried this there would have been no CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS,VASCO DA GAMA OR MR TSANG.
After a few long islands n memories of the girl i used to drink them with i sit down to pen some thoughts....
travel...something that always fascinated me...i guess a lot of ppl dont even know this but there are 195 countries in this world as of now...dont know abt tomorrow!!!!! 192 independant...the vatican city, kosovo and if you wanna call palestine a country.
Proud to say i have travelled 131 of them and each country has left me a different taste in my mouth aggregating in making me the person i am....cynical but hopeful!!!!!
one such visit i remember is to Romania before it entered th EU...year 2004...
i landed at bucarest and were headed to constanta where i was supposed to join my ship which is about a 6 hour drive...and i discovered this little known country which has one of the oldest histories ever.
lucky for me i had a cab driver who spoke english and besides showing me the women who by far are romanias forte told me about the biggest myth ever...TRANSLYVANIA...the abode of the infamous COUNT DRACULA...the legend over who countless movies have been made and books written...the blood sucking vampire.
we stopped at a quaint lil restaurant and stuffing meatballs into our mouth he told me his story.
infamous for his impalement and famous for the prosperity and lawfulness in his reign Count Vlad Dracul must be turning in his grave thanks to Mr Bram Stoker turning him into a ghoulish character..ha ha!!!
now my mom couldnt scare me no more if i didnt eat my meals :)
we reached our hotel in constanta...constantinople(700 bc) and decided to head out to a club....where i met the most beautiful woman ever...but now thats a different story
;-)
i guess the saying goes well...
its best to have travelled and lost than not to have travelled at all
